At Southampton Hospital Radio, our heart and soul lie in the dedication of our wonderful volunteers. They keep the station sounding fantastic and broadcasting every single day of the year — bringing comfort, companionship, and great music to patients, staff, and visitors across our hospital sites.

Although we are based on the Southampton General Hospital site, we receive no direct funding from the NHS. All our running costs are covered through donations, fundraising events, and the incredible efforts of our volunteer team. We rely on the kindness of our community to ensure our service continues uninterrupted.

In 2025, we estimate our broadcasting costs will total approximately £12,000, based on previous years. This includes everything from essential equipment, licensing fees, and music libraries, to the day-to-day running of the station.

That’s why your support makes all the difference — helping us keep those friendly voices on the air, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

£5 – Keeps our broadcast running for 24 hours.

£10 – Adds 20 fresh and uplifting new tracks to our music library.

£20 – Covers our legal broadcast licences for two weeks.
