Our station thrives thanks to the energy and dedication of our volunteers who bring music, entertainment, and smiles to patients. Whether you’d like to present, provide technical support, or work behind the scenes, we have a role for everyone! 

Age Requirement

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. This ensures compliance with hospital policies and to guarantee coverage under our public liability insurance, which does not extend to individuals under 18.

Voluntary Nature of Roles

All roles at Southampton Hospital Radio are voluntary and unpaid. While we cannot offer financial reimbursement for any costs incurred (such as purchasing headphones for personal use), the satisfaction of making a difference to others is a truly priceless reward.

Commitment Expectation

Our volunteers are the heart of what we do, each generously giving about two hours a week to support the station. We ask that all volunteers commit to a minimum of six months. This allows us to offer comprehensive training and monitoring, ensuring you are well-equipped to contribute meaningfully. Consequently, we are unable to accept short-term volunteers or work experience placements.

Membership Fee

There is an annual membership fee of £35, which helps cover the costs associated with the administration of the station.
